No Recession This Year: Chapman Economists

Continuing slowdown predicted for OC construction industry

The U.S. has not experienced a recession this year, though economic conditions will lead to weak growth next year, according to Chapman University economists led by President Emeritus Jim Doti.
In Orange County, a declining population will contribute to a slowdown in the local construction industry
Turning to politics, Doti said the team’s economic analysis indicates that the winner of next year’s presidential election will be the “incumbent Democratic Party with a plurality  of 7.7%.” He did not name Joe Biden as the winner and he later emphasized that he was talking about the popular vote, not the all-important Electoral College vote.
An e-mail sent by the university said: “Chapman University Economic Experts Point to a Biden Victory in 2024.”
Doti said the Democrats could lose if economic conditions falter.
The economists presented their annual economic forecast at the Musco Center for the Arts on the Chapman campus in Orange today.
