Paul Folino, chairman emeritus of networking equipment maker Emulex and philanthropist, passed away on Saturday due to cancer. He was 75.
Folino has made significant local philanthropic contributions, including a $1 million donation to California State University, Fullerton for the College of Business and Economics and a $10 million donation to the South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa.
He was also active in politics and was close friends with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“Paul was a force of good for CSUF … He has given to just about every college and area of the campus,” Greg Saks, CSUF vice president of university advancement, said in a statement.
Folino joined Emulex as CEO and president in 1993.
He began his career in sales at Xerox Corporation and went on to become COO and president at Thomas-Conrad Corporation.
