ESG Efforts Come Naturally to Alteryx

Alteryx Inc. has pioneered the tracking of data for analytics uses, so it stands to reason that it’s also tracking data on the company’s widespread efforts in the environmental, social and governance framework.

The Irvine-based company (NYSE: AYX) on Nov. 2 published its inaugural Global Impact Report chronicling its ESG commitment for Alteryx customers, partners and employees who together have been dubbed “Maveryx.”

“We believe tracking our ESG data is the first step to honoring that commitment to our Maveryx community,” CEO Mark Anderson said.

“Giving back to local communities” is one of many goals.

Its current efforts span the globe, from raising money for Ukraine relief to helping feed those in need in Australia. It’s also focused on helping customers protect the environment against greenhouse gases and is throwing support behind the international aid group Doctors Without Borders.

The company has an estimated 350 employees at its new Irvine headquarters at 17200 Laguna Canyon Road at the Spectrum Terrace office campus, with 2,600 staffers companywide.

6,400 Hours

Last year, Alteryx employees donated more than 6,400 hours to over 300 nonprofits through the Alteryx for Good program, which grants each employee 20 paid hours per year to volunteer with any nonprofit that is meaningful to them.

“We believe it is our responsibility to help engage our employees in small acts of kindness that can contribute to major change and impact,” the company says.

The company also donated over 400 licenses to nearly 200 nonprofits through its Tech for Good program, to help organizations fuel change through analytics.

International Efforts

Abroad, Alteryx has helped to streamline the operations of OzHarvest, Australia’s leading food rescue organization.

“At OzHarvest, we’ve delivered over 19 million meals and rescued 5,000 tons of food waste since 2020,” said Andrew Miller, national logistics manager of OzHarvest.

Alteryx has also raised over $140,000 for Ukrainian relief efforts through employee giving and corporate matching.

The company donated $100,000 to Doctors Without Borders to help improve emergency preparedness and response delivery, and collaborated with State Street Corp. to organize a free Alteryx training course for Ukrainians looking to start careers in information technology.

Its internal international efforts include developing a greenhouse gas inventory system to measure the carbon emissions associated with the company’s global operations, the first step needed to be able to reduce its environmental impact.

Simultaneously, the company has been using the Alteryx Analytics Platform to quantify its environmental impact and identify areas for reduction.

The team also uses the Alteryx platform to measure diversity hiring goals and pay equity.

Alteryx said Nov. 6 that revenue grew 8% in the third quarter to $232 million.

Its shares immediately increased more than 15% and racked up another 20% gain the following day to $36.27 apiece for a market cap of $2.6 billion.
