HyperX, the Fountain Valley-based maker of keyboards, headsets, mice and other products for gamers, has sponsored a scientific study that helps predict when stress, anger and frustration will harm players’ competitive ability.
The study conducted by Arizona State University looked at “the biometrics of gaming, ultimately discovering the ability to predict a player’s tipping point — known as tilt or rage quitting — early enough to help prevent it in the future.”
The study revealed a revealed a pattern enabling the team to predict tilt about 15 to 20 minutes before its occurrence.
Results will help improve gamers’ well-being, especially for those who go at it for hours at a time.
HyperX, which was purchased by HP Inc. in 2021, make, USB microphones, and console accessories for gamers.
