Costa Mesa-based defense company Anduril Industries said it is teaming up with Hanwha Defense USA to bid on the Army’s unmanned warfare equipment carrier, sometimes referred to as a “robotic mule.”
They are seeking a contract for the Army’s Small Multipurpose Equipment Transport (S-MET) Increment II program as it is officially known.
Anduril plans to serve as the prime contractor, while Hanwha would provide the Arion-SMET platform. A third company, Forterra, would provide a system to enable complex on and off-road maneuvers.
Hanwha Defense USA is a subsidiary of Hanwha Group of South Korea,
Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Aerospace are major investors in flying taxi company Overair of Santa Ana.
